About the course

This course explores how to partner effectively with multilingual families in IEP meetings using a strengths-based, relationship-centered approach. Participants will examine common barriers to participation, learn how to work in partnership with interpreters, and explore practical strategies to increase access, build trust, and support meaningful family engagement. Through reflection and real-world examples, this course supports educators and team members in creating IEP meetings where families experience not only access, but true belonging.

Roots of Inclusion

Roots of Inclusion is a Washington State nonprofit advancing equity, access, and belonging for children with disabilities and their families. Through our work with families, educators, and systems, we have seen how language access and relationships shape meaningful participation, and how intentional shifts in practice can create IEP meetings where families are true partners. Our goal is to support reflection and action so all families experience not just access, but belonging.
